The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reopened its National Identification Number (NIN) Alignment Service, giving eligible candidates another opportunity to correct discrepancies in their biodata.
The board announced the development in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), outlining key steps and conditions candidates must understand before applying.
Here are seven important things candidates should know about the reopened service.
1. JAMB Has Reopened the NIN Alignment Window
JAMB has reopened its NIN Alignment Service for eligible candidates seeking to correct discrepancies between their National Identity Management Commission records and their JAMB biodata.
The announcement was shared on the board’s official X account.
2. Correct Your Details With NIMC First
Candidates must first ensure that their biodata is correct in the NIMC database before applying for alignment with JAMB.
This is a key requirement highlighted by the examination body.
3. Review All Biodata Fields Carefully
JAMB has advised candidates to check their information thoroughly before submitting an application.
Applicants should identify all the required corrections and select the relevant fields before submission to avoid mistakes.
4. Not Every Biodata Field Is Automatically Eligible
The board said its JAMB Explained video provides guidance on the biodata fields eligible for correction.
Candidates should consult the official guide to understand which details can be aligned before starting the process.
5. The Service Is a One-Time Opportunity
JAMB warned that candidates should treat the reopened window carefully because the opportunity is available only once.
Applicants are therefore advised to verify their details and ensure that all necessary corrections are selected before submitting their requests.
6. Approval Is Not Automatic
Submitting an application does not guarantee that JAMB will approve the requested changes.
According to the board, applications will be subject to a verification process to establish whether the requested alignment meets the relevant requirements.
7. Watch JAMB’s Official Guide Before Applying
JAMB has urged candidates to watch its JAMB Explained video for details of the application process, eligible biodata fields and verification procedure.
The board did not specify a closing date for the reopened service in its announcement or provide a detailed list of the eligible fields in the accompanying post.
Candidates should therefore consult JAMB’s official communication channels for further details before submitting their applications.
