The campaign covers eligible bill payments and money transfers, while a separate initiative offers qualifying SMEs waivers on selected transaction and loan arrangement fees.
NCBA Bank Uganda has launched a campaign waiving transaction fees on selected digital banking services until December 31, 2026, in a move aimed at lowering banking costs and encouraging customers to use digital channels.
The NCBA NOW Zero Transaction Fees campaign, launched on October 13, allows customers to make eligible transactions without paying transaction fees through the bank’s mobile application, web platform and USSD service.
The offer covers selected services, including utility bill payments, bank-to-wallet transfers, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), international transfers and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) payments, subject to the campaign’s terms and conditions.
The bank says the initiative is intended to encourage existing customers to use digital banking more frequently, re-engage inactive customers and attract new users seeking convenient and affordable financial services.
Speaking during the launch at the bank’s head office at Twed Towers in Kampala, NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo said the campaign reflected the bank’s commitment to making banking simpler and more accessible.
“At NCBA, we believe banking should do more than facilitate transactions. It should make life easier, create opportunities and empower people to pursue their ambitions,” Muyobo said.
He said waiving fees on selected services for the remainder of the year would help customers save money while making greater use of digital banking.
“Our message is simple: transact more, enjoy greater convenience and pay zero transaction fees on eligible transactions. We also welcome those who are not yet banking with NCBA to open an account and experience the benefits of banking with us,” Muyobo said.
Through NCBA NOW, customers can access banking services using the mobile application, web platform and *212# USSD channel. The digital options allow users to manage eligible transactions remotely, reducing the need to visit physical branches for routine banking services.
The fee waiver, however, applies only to specified transactions. Customers are encouraged to check the campaign’s terms and conditions to establish which services qualify and whether other charges may apply.
The digital banking promotion complements NCBA’s “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwererere” campaign, which offers qualifying business customers zero transaction fees and zero arrangement fees on selected financial facilities.
The facilities include business loans, invoice discounting, Local Purchase Order (LPO) financing and asset financing, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
The initiative targets businesses seeking to manage operating costs, improve cash flow and access financing to support their operations and expansion.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), banking charges and the costs associated with obtaining credit can affect working capital, particularly for businesses that depend on frequent supplier payments and short-term financing.
Invoice discounting can help eligible businesses access funds tied up in unpaid invoices, while LPO financing can provide funding to firms seeking to fulfil orders before receiving payment. Asset financing enables businesses to acquire equipment and other productive assets through structured financing arrangements.
By waiving specified transaction and arrangement fees, NCBA aims to reduce some of the costs associated with these services. However, the overall cost of borrowing will still depend on applicable interest rates, repayment terms and any other charges associated with the facilities.
“For SMEs, every cost matters and every opportunity to improve cash flow can make a difference,” Muyobo said.
He added that the SME campaign was intended to give businesses greater value from their banking relationships through fee waivers on eligible transactions and financing facilities.
SMEs contribute to Uganda’s economy through employment, entrepreneurship and the provision of goods and services. Access to suitable financial services can help businesses manage daily operations, invest in productive assets and respond to changing market conditions.
NCBA’s campaign comes as banks continue to expand digital channels for payments, transfers and other financial services.
Digital platforms allow customers to manage routine transactions remotely, while campaigns that waive selected fees can help reduce the cost of using these services.
The extent of the savings will depend on customers’ transaction patterns and which services qualify for the promotion. Clear communication of eligibility requirements and any additional charges is therefore important in helping customers make informed decisions.
NCBA is encouraging existing customers to use NCBA NOW more frequently, inviting inactive users to reconnect with the bank and welcoming prospective customers to open accounts.
Customers can access NCBA NOW through its mobile application, web platform and *212# USSD channel.
The Zero Transaction Fees campaign runs until December 31, 2026. Both the digital banking promotion and the separate SME offer remain subject to their respective terms and conditions.
