Microsoft has been working to make Windows 11 run better. A recent Windows Blog post says the operating system is now up to 20 percent more responsive because of updates released this year. The Start menu, File Explorer, Search, and Edge browser have all been improved.
A major update is that Windows now uses your computer’s RAM more efficiently, which helps it run better on systems with 8GB of RAM. Microsoft says Windows 11 can now keep up to 2GB more active data in RAM instead of moving it to slower storage. This boost is most noticeable when you have several apps or browser tabs open at the same time.
Microsoft has also cut down on memory use for background features. For example, on computers with 8GB of RAM or less, the Widgets panel now loads only when you open it. This change can free up more than 200MB of RAM.
Windows Update now only needs one system restart per month and installs updates faster. Also, logging in with Windows Hello and connecting Bluetooth devices should be quicker and more reliable.
These updates have been released gradually, and more changes are coming. Microsoft’s claim of a 20 percent speed boost is based on its own tests, so not every PC will see the same improvements.
