C MUZA have beaten defending champions Power Dynamos 1-0 at Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka to go top of Stream A in the MTN Super League Transitional Season.
Solomon Mpasela scored the solitary strike after 50 minutes as MUZA held on to stun Power.
MUZA top Stream A with 10 points from four games, at least for 24 hours before their closest rivals Nkana face Konkola Blades away at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
Power are fifth on the table with six points in four matches. This was their second defeat in the transitional season having lost to Konkola on the opening weekend.
Power coach Oswald Mutapa was left gutted by the defeat.
“Not a good result, not the result we wanted. We conceded through a deflection. We had a few chances we could have used to equalise and maybe win the match but it wasn’t to be. We move to the next game. We need to do more in terms of how to go and get the result,” Mutapa said.
In Stream B, Zesco United ended their winless run with a 5-0 win over Mutondo Stars at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola on Independence Day.
Coming into the match on the back of one defeat and two draws, Zesco gave their fans something to savour.
The net rippled inside the first minute when Anthony Shipanuka fired home from close range.
Shipanuka remained a constant threat and came close to doubling his tally 12 minutes later.
Zesco were rewarded in the 37th minute when Abraham Siankombo was brought down inside the penalty area. Kennedy Musonda stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to make it 2-0, before striking again a minute later to complete his brace.
On the hour mark, Happy Nsiku rose highest to head home from a corner to make it 4-0, before Elvis Addae completed the rout in the 88th minute after an error by Mutondo Stars goalkeeper Scotch Mwanza.
Assistant coach Tenant Chembo praised the performance.
“It is a good feeling, we are so happy we got the result and the goals that we wanted,” Chembo said.
