The Sydney track will conclude the 2026 season with the annual Caper Memorial, a two-day event featuring racing in several divisions including the popular late model sportsman, hot rod classic and legends.
The weekend will also crown season track champions in the street stock, mini stock, hobby stock and V6 thunder classes. It will also provide an opportunity to see the next generation of drivers with the Tim’s Corner Motorsports bandolero road trip.
This year will mark the fifth annual Caper Memorial, which has become one of the biggest events at the Grand Lake Road facility since racing returned to the track in 2021. It will also mark the final stock car racing event in Atlantic Canada.
Racing will begin on Friday night with track champions being crowned in the street stock, mini stock, hobby and V6 thunder classes. Bandolero racing is also scheduled for the event, which will begin at 5 p.m.
Going into Friday’s racing, Dennis Nickerson (543) has a 34-point lead on Sam Burke (509) for top spot in the street stock division, while Adam Aker (527) has a 12-point lead on Austin Boudreau (515) in the mini stock championship race. Aker won the division last season.
In the V6 thunder class, defending division champion Austin Petipas (542) leads Brennan MacInnis (533) by nine points for first place, while only six points separate Dave Timmons (533) and Jonathan MacInnis (527) in the hobby stock standings.
On Saturday, action begins at 1 p.m. and will featuring a drifting competition along with a 30-laps in the hot rods, 50 laps with the legends, 75-laps in the mini madness event, and 100 laps for the sportsman. The bandolero twin 25 will also take place.
