The crowd, including a large group of young people in identical T shirts who chanted and sang interrupting Vucic several times, was also addressed
former Serbian President and Vucic party ally Tomislav Nikolic and former Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
Media reports said supporters were brought to Nis from across Serbia in organized bus convoys. The rally and the closure of the city center caused major traffic disruptions, with long queues reported on surrounding roads. Residents in several parts of the city protested by banging pots and pans from their windows and balconies.
