A generous helping of cake, live music and pampering brought a rosy glow to Arklow Cancer Support as the Wicklow charity marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its annual Pink Day celebrations.
The St Mary’s Road centre was a hive of activity throughout the morning, with many women whose lives have been touched by breast cancer among those gathering to enjoy the occasion.
There was plenty to keep visitors busy, from hand massages and nail painting to spot prizes and special giveaways, while cakes galore, baked by the charity’s volunteers and members of the local community, ensured there was no shortage of sweet treats.
Mary M Graham provided the soundtrack to the morning, while representatives from Laura Armstrong Pharmacy and Enhanced Beauty were also on hand to pamper visitors, with Enhanced Beauty once again giving its time and services free of charge, as it does every year for Pink Day.
Arklow Cancer Support founder Mary O’Brien, who recently accepted an ‘Arklow Person of the Year’ award at the district chamber ball, expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make the gathering possible.
“We truly appreciate all the support from Laura Armstrong Pharmacy, Enhanced Beauty Arklow, as well as our numerous wonderful bakers,” she said.
“A big thanks to Melinda Lambert, Zoe Kelly Hamilton, Anna O Halloran and of course the lady who kept everyone entertained, Mary M Graham.
“Thank you to the girls from St Mary’s College and everyone who turned up to make the morning so special.”
