The first phase will comprise six months of distance learning from January to June 2027, allowing participants to engage with the course material while continuing to fulfil their professional responsibilities. This will be followed by a three-month face-to-face contact programme from July to September 2027 at the respective study centres. The final phase will involve a three-month internship from October to December 2027, which participants will undertake in their hometowns or workplaces.
The programme is open to teachers, teacher educators, school administrators, and untrained guidance personnel from India who are interested in developing their understanding of student guidance and counselling.
Admissions to the one-year diploma programme will be offered through the Department of Education in Psychology and Foundations of Education (DEPFE) at NCERT, New Delhi, and the Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong. A maximum of 50 seats will be available at each study centre. NCERT has also indicated that preference will be given to candidates deputed by government authorities. Applicants belonging to this category should ensure that the relevant details and supporting documents are provided as required during the application process.
