Ziaur Rahman Zia, FCA, has been elected chairman of the Board Audit Committee of SBAC Bank PLC.
He currently serves as an independent director of the bank, according to the press release.
Zia is a fellow chartered accountant with more than 21 years of professional experience in audit, finance and corporate governance. He is an elected council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).
He holds a master's degree in accounting and is an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Zia previously served as a partner at A Qasem & Co., a chartered accountancy firm in Bangladesh.
Since beginning his career in 2005, he has gained experience in audit, assurance, advisory services and compliance across various sectors.
He has received specialised training in bank audits and has expertise in auditing, fraud detection, financial investigation and risk management.
A technology entrepreneur and business leader, Zia is chairman of RS Technologies Limited and the Board of Directors of Progoti Systems Limited.
He represents Bangladesh on the Public Sector Accounting Committee of the South Asian Federation of Accountants.
In 2020, he served as chairman of ICAB's Dhaka Regional Committee.
He is also involved in social welfare activities through Drishti Unnayan Sangstha in Dhaka.
