Big Brother Mzansi fans know Mich Mazibuko as someone who kept his cards close to his chest inside the house. Now that he's on the outside, he's finally opening up — and what he's been quietly building in the background has left his followers in tears.
On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, Mich posted an emotional selfie-style vlog to Instagram, filmed across multiple settings: under trees, beside a car, at a construction site, and inside a room. The footage documents a deeply personal milestone — the rebuilding of his family's home more than a decade after a devastating fire reduced it to rubble.
A Fire That Changed Everything
In 2015, the Mazibuko family lost their 14-roomed house to a fire. For over 11 years, the structure stood in a state of disrepair, a painful reminder of what was taken from them. Mich never spoke about it publicly during his time on Big Brother Mzansi, but the vlog, which includes before-and-after comparison images, tells the full story.
Alongside rebuilding the house, Mich also gifted his mother a car and made sure she no longer had to clean homes or school premises for a living.
"11 Years Later I can't face the last picture on video♥️🥹but we're grateful," he wrote in his caption. "Grateful I got to make my Mom Stop Cleaning at my high school, people's Houses, gave her the House She Deserves and mostly Ukbuyisa iSthunzi Sakhe♥️🙏🏽. Let's continue with the project in November with Painting and Uk Plestela. Then we Move Inside with the Project."
The phrase "Ukbuyisa iSthunzi Sakhe" translates roughly to "restoring her dignity" — and that sentiment is what has resonated most with those who watched the vlog.
