A week-long medical campaign in Morocco’s Taounate province aims to provide free healthcare to 300 vulnerable residents, including surgical procedures for patients in remote and mountainous communities.
The initiative, running from October 19 to 25, is organized by the Provincial Human Development Committee in partnership with local health authorities and the Fes-Meknes Territorial Health Group.
Around 120 patients are expected to undergo operations involving thyroid disorders, gallbladder conditions, hernias and gynecological complications. The campaign also includes circumcision procedures for approximately 173 children.
Professor Mohamed Jannati Idrissi, a participating surgeon, said medical teams were treating around 35 patients daily, with nearly 100 operations targeted by Saturday.
The initiative mobilizes volunteer specialists alongside hospital staff, with medicines and medical supplies provided to beneficiaries.
According to provincial officials, 41 medical outreach campaigns organized under the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) have delivered more than 71,000 consultations and approximately 6,800 surgical procedures across Taounate.
The campaigns have also distributed more than 700 pairs of prescription glasses.
