KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Weather conditions across Nepal are expected to remain favourable for the next six days, with a low likelihood of rainfall in most areas, meteorologist Ujwal Upadhyaya has said, urging farmers to harvest paddy and other crops.
Speaking on Monday, Upadhyaya said the likelihood of rain had declined nationwide. The Tarai is unlikely to receive rainfall, while most hilly and Himalayan areas are also expected to remain free of rain and snowfall.
“Looking at the forecast for the next six days from today, October 12, the weather looks very favourable. The chance of rainfall across the country is declining, and most places are likely to remain sunny throughout the day,” he said, advising farmers to begin harvesting their crops without undue concern.

However, Upadhyaya cautioned that localized rainfall could occur in some areas due to evaporation from soil, rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and forests that remain wet after prolonged rainfall. He specifically advised people in areas such as Hemja, Lumle and Dhampus in Kaski, as well as valleys and deep gorges along the southern slopes of the Himalayan region, to consider local weather conditions.
Apart from these limited areas, he said rainfall was unlikely elsewhere.
Upadhyaya also said a low-pressure system expected to potentially affect Nepal around Nawami and Dashami was weakening and was unlikely to have any impact on the country. The system could instead affect Myanmar and southern India.
He said he would provide a clearer update on the weather by Friday, adding that the forecast suggested Nepal could experience sunny weather during Dashain.
