Mumbai Police has traced the ownership trail of the Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters in the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai. The bike had changed hands four times since 2022, with the vehicle reportedly sold without a registered transfer of ownership.
According to Mumbai Police, accused Ritik, described as a rapido rider, purchased the motorcycle on September 11. The bike was allegedly used only for the crime.
Rajjab Ali Shaikh, the third owner of the motorcycle, said the vehicle had been kept outside for sale before his nephew decided to sell it through a chain of acquaintances. The family said the buyer paid Rs 25,000 to Rs 26,000 for the bike.
Shaikh said they were unaware of who eventually used the motorcycle and learnt of its alleged involvement in the shooting only after the incident was reported in the media and police arrived at their home.
"We sold the vehicle, and it ended up being used for the wrong purposes. It is a source of great distress, and we are very worried," Shaikh said, adding that the family had shared all the details with Mumbai Police.
He said the police had questioned them and that they were ready to cooperate with the investigation, including appearing as witnesses if required.
Shaikh also urged people to ensure that all paperwork was completed properly while selling vehicles, highlighting the importance of documenting ownership transfers.
HOW THE SHOOTING UNFOLDED
The 36-year-old actor was leaving after playing a football match in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening when the accused allegedly fired multiple shots at his BMW sedan.
Shroff escaped unhurt, but his driver, Firdaus, and an autorickshaw driver identified as Chauhan were injured.
The actor was seated on the side of the vehicle when the shooting began and shifted towards the driver's seat after the gunfire started.
CCTV footage of the incident shows one of the men firing multiple shots, while the second appears to attempt to fire. It remains unclear whether the second man's weapon discharged, a detail that could be relevant to the suspected weapon malfunction.
The third accused can be seen waiting on a motorcycle, apparently ready to help the others escape.
Police have seized the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack. The accused reportedly abandoned it at Andheri railway station before fleeing.
SHOOTERS TRAVELLED BY TRAIN AFTER ABANDONING BIKE
According to the information shared by Mumbai Police, the three accused left Andheri railway station and travelled by local train to Borivali. From there, booked an app-based cab to Surat and then a train to Kota.
The investigation has also traced the motorcycle's ownership history, with the vehicle passing through multiple hands before it was allegedly used in the attack. The lack of a registered ownership transfer has emerged as a key detail in tracing how the bike reached the accused.
BISHNOI GANG CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the firing incident and issued fresh threats against those working with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
