The Dallas Cowboys could add a quarterback after losing Joe Milton III to the Philadelphia Eagles, which leaves them with only two on the roster. One injury to monitor is Dak Prescott, who suffered an apparent rib injury in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers after taking a shot to the chest. Prescott finished the game, and Brian Schottenheimer told the media he didn’t need X-rays, had the wind knocked out of him, and that the injury was just a bruise.
The Dallas Cowboys add a former 2nd-round pick to the squad
According to Todd Archer of ESPN NFL Nation, the Cowboys have signed Kyle Trask to their practice squad, effectively replacing Joe Milton III as the team’s third-string quarterback. Trask can be elevated to the game-day roster three times without penalty; otherwise, a fourth elevation would require a promotion to the active roster. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ second-round pick is on his fourth team and entering his sixth NFL season.
The Cowboys are signing QB Kyle Trask to their practice squad, per sources. He replaces Joe Milton III, who signed to the Eagles active roster last week. A second-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2021, he has also been with Atlanta and Carolina.

The Buccaneers re-signed Kyle Trask to a one-year deal last offseason. Unfortunately, Trask lost the backup quarterback job to Teddy Bridgewater last season, prompting Tampa Bay to release him during roster cuts. He signed with the Falcons’ practice squad in November and spent the last two months there before his contract expired. The Panthers signed Trask in early August, but released him during roster cuts. He remained unsigned through the first six weeks of the regular season.
