Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has played down the incident which saw one of his players accused of grabbing the testicles of Gavin Coombes.
The Munster number eight complained to referee Andrew Brace just before the half-time whistle, alleging that an unnamed player had grabbed him in the groin area.
Brace and the TMO could not find the footage to prove those claims during the match, but it could be taken up by the citing commissioner, who will review all angles and decide whether to take action.
Cullen was asked about the incident in his post-match press conference where he stated that he couldn’t “see anything” which corroborated Coombes’ version of events.
Cullen’s view
“I can’t see anything there, from what I can see. Obviously, if that is the accusation… but I’m not seeing anything on first view,” he told reporters.
“So I don’t know. It looked like he [Coombes] had changed his mind halfway through that accusation as well. So I don’t know.”
Asked to clarify what he meant by Coombes ‘changing his mind’, Cullen responded: “Well, that’s the way it sounded, once the scrum was packing down.
“But I don’t know. Obviously, once that accusation is made, it becomes a serious matter for the citing commissioner. So my comment is not going to help in any way here.
“But from what I’ve seen, I can’t see anything.”
Leinster were 13-5 in arrears when that incident occurred, with Shane Daly’s try and a pair of Charlie O’Shea penalties putting Munster in a strong position.
Cullen feared the worst having seen their arch-rivals go away with a dominant 31-14 triumph in the same fixture last season, but he was pleased with his side’s response as they banished memories of that disappointment.
Cullen pleased with Leinster response
“Munster, I thought, were good in the contact area, probably a little bit better than us in the first half, both sides of the ball and obviously they went into a 13-0 lead,” he added.
“I was like, ‘Oh, is this going to be a bit like it was last year in Croke Park?’
“But I thought the players showed good composure to come back and get try. We started getting a little bit of an ascendancy, but then we would give away a turnover.
“There was a couple of times we were just a little bit off, gave away turnovers, and that gives Munster life. But the message really at half-time was ‘just stick to it’ and make sure they enjoy themselves. And keep pounding away.
“The composure is good, the players stick to it, which is big.
“This time last year, we were poor when we got ourselves in that position. We made life more difficult for ourselves, we weren’t clinical, but so much more clinical in the second half [today].
“But Munster brought a huge amount to the contest, didn’t they? We had to find a way out there today in difficult conditions. So, yeah, pleased to get a win, bonus point.”
