Deepa Khandakar has spent 28 years in acting. Once known for playing leading ladies, she now often takes on roles as mothers, sisters, aunts, and other family members.
These characters are also becoming increasingly important to the stories, as seen in her role as the aunt in the series Eta Amaderi Golpo.
Deepa believes it is only natural for on-screen roles to evolve with age and changing circumstances in life.
“In real life, I’ll be at a certain stage of life, so naturally, the characters and ages I portray on screen should reflect that,”she said.
She admitted that she never expected her aunt character in Eta Amaderi Golpo to become so popular.
Now, when she goes out, people often call her “Fufu” (aunt) instead of using her name.
Deepa recently played Rukaiya in Fire Ashar Golpo, directed by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz.
She is also working on several new projects, including Bakulpur, Family Express, and Karmafol. She shared these thoughts during a recent appearance on the Star Stories podcast.
