"Kai Trump went to the supermarket with two friends and ended up laughing over the ingredients she had chosen to eat. One of her companions, Italian, did not miss the opportunity to question her decisions: the packaged pasta and the jarred sauce did not seem to meet her expectations for the menu.
A video shared on X captures the amusing scene. While her friend protests about the products, Donald Trump's granddaughter can't hold back her laughter. Differences over how to prepare pasta turn an everyday outing into a playful exchange of jokes between the young women.
Kai Trump's choice that her Italian friend didn't let slide
The disagreement is over two common ingredients for a quick meal at home, but her companion takes it much more seriously.
Kai is laughingly very amused by her friend's objections, in a scene whose appeal lies precisely in how recognizable the moment is: shopping together does not mean agreeing on what should end up on the plate.

Shopping had already appeared in the content that Kai shares with her followers. In March 2026, she posted a YouTube visit to Erewhon, the luxury supermarket chain in Los Angeles. That outing ended with a bag of products costing $233, including a $21 smoothie. The prices even led her to joke about possibly having to file for bankruptcy.
Jokes about the shopping also made their way into the comments
Among the reactions to the post, some preferred to dive straight into the gastronomic debate. “The sauce dispute is the only interesting story here”, wrote one user. The same comment argued that “jarred sauce is an easy and acceptable solution for a weeknight dinner”, although it considered it harder to justify the choice of dried pasta when fresh pasta is available.
The presence of a Secret Service agent also gave rise to a few jokes. One comment suggested that the greatest threat during the shopping trip was the Italian objections to the ingredients, while another joked about the escort’s patience: “Bless that Secret Service agent’s heart for having to put up with them.”
But among the friends, the matter was much simpler: deciding what they were going to have for dinner and, above all, convincing the Italian woman that Kai's choice could be a valid option.
Between privileges and golf courses: this is how Kai Trump grew up
Kai Trump was born in New York on May 12, 2007 and is the eldest of the five children of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump. She is also the eldest of Donald Trump's grandchildren. She spent her early years in New York and moved with her family to Jupiter, Florida, when she was 13 years old. There she studied at The Benjamin School and developed a career increasingly linked to golf.
Her relationship with that sport began much earlier. Kai has said that she started playing when she was two years old thanks to her mother. Over time, golf became an important part of her life and in 2024 she committed to play for the University of Miami.
Her membership in the Trump family also allowed her access from a very young age to some of the most exclusive golf courses. She herself thanked her family for the support she received when she announced her commitment to Miami.
Beyond golf and the privileges associated with her last name, Kai has also publicly shown a close relationship with her grandfather. During her speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention, she described him as a "normal grandpa" and said that he gave them candy and soda when their parents were not looking. She also recalled that Donald Trump would call her during school hours to ask her about her golf game, until she had to remind him that she was in class and that they would talk later.
The supermarket scene shows, precisely, that other side of Kai: a young woman who shares everyday moments of her life with her followers, even though even a simple shopping trip can end up being accompanied by a Secret Service agent.
