Bohemians have been officially informed they will be without skipper Dawson Devoy for the rest of the season on account of the red card he received for his role in the scrap after his side’s defeat to title rivals Shamrock Rovers.
The FAI have confirmed the outcome of a disciplinary meeting hearing on Monday which considered the scenes that spilled over after the final whistle of a significant 2-1 win for the Hoops who are now three points clear of Bohs with two matches remaining.
Bohs were already resigned to being without Devoy for those fixtures — derbies with Shelbourne and St Patrick’s Athletic — after he was sanctioned for violent conduct.
Video evidence did not support the argument for reducing Devoy’s punishment after he struck Michael Noonan; the unused Rovers sub went out of his way to goad the away supporters after the full-time whistle and the Bohs captain overstepped the mark in response to prompt the escalation of tensions.
Noonan will only miss one additional game after the footage was deemed favourable to his case which means the Nottingham Forest-bound attacker will have the chance for a Hoops goodbye in the final match of the season away to Dundalk.
Naj Razi’s season is over, however, with the teenage substitute and Bohs coach Stephen O’Donnell treated the same as Devoy in the final verdict.
Stephen Bradley will also be without Matt Healy for Friday’s visit of already-relegated Sligo Rovers on account of an accumulation of yellow cards.
The lengthiest ban arising from the scenes has been awarded to Shamrock Rovers winger Danny Grant, a former Bohs player who came on to get involved and has been charged for grabbing around the neck and aggressive involvement in the row.
Grant was not in the Rovers squad for the Bohs encounter, but made his comeback from a four-month absence as a sub in last Friday’s loss in Galway that has opened the door to the Gypsies again.
A four -game ban means he will also miss the opening exchanges of the 2027 campaign.
