The 2026/2027 betPawa Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men and women’s National League will serve off on November 14-15.
This was settled on during the National League technical meeting by part of KVF executive members, team managers, coaches and clubs representatives held at the Nyayo National stadium on Saturday.
The League is expected to feature 16 men and 10 women teams.
The registration/ transfer period of players will end on November 8 with mid window transfer set for mid February next year.
Commenting on the meeting, KVF Vice President Paul Bitok said that it was all system go, noting that unlike in the previous seasons where selected weekends were hosting the league fixtures, this season, matches will be played every weekend spread through the month.
“It will be a busy season. Matches will be played every weekend but teams fixtures will be alternating. Meaning that if a team has fixtures this weekend, they rest next weekend and resume the other weekend. We will start the League in November and if all goes well, it ends in June,” said Bitok.
“Also we have introduced licensing approved cards that will help curb the issues of players playing for two teams in one season for instance, and so the players will be keying in the systems for the names to reflect in their respective clubs,” he added.
With three new women’s teams showing interest to join the National League, Bitok said executive members will have a meeting next Saturday to decide on their fate among other things.
“The betPawa sponsorship had been coiled around 16 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams, so that makes it tricky on how it will go but we will have a meeting and see the way forward. There is also the possibility of having a women's Division Two League but that will be guided by a lot of factors,” said Bitok.
KVF executive members that were present during the meeting were president Charles Nyaberi, Secretary General Ismail Chage, Vice President Bitok, Second Vice President Kenneth Tonui, Deputy Sports Organising Secretary Alfred Chedotum and Committee member Neddy Nilimo.
