Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have started the season quite well, as the franchise currently has 4 wins and 2 losses. The team recently faced the Cleveland Browns, losing with a score of 13-10.
Jackson has been absent in the last two games. After sustaining an injury in a Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans, he has not played a single minute. He has now come out to speak against a report about his return.
Lamar Jackson hits back at Ian Rapoport’s report
Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain to his left ankle on October 4, 2026, during the final play of the first half against the Titans. He was sacked from behind, causing the ankle to bend awkwardly. He missed the subsequent two games, with backup Tyler Huntley starting in his absence.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport had previously reported that the sprain was neither a high nor low ankle sprain, describing it instead as unconventional. In a recent press conference, Jackson was asked about the matter. However, the quarterback questioned Rapoport’s report.
He said, “I thought it was a high ankle sprain, so who said that? Ian Rapoport said that? He part of the training staff? So we can’t go off Ian Rappaport.” He added that it was not strictly the insider’s fault, “You know, he’s just reporting. Somebody probably told him that too, though, so can’t blame him. But nah, man, my staff told me it was a high ankle sprain, so we’re going with what Adrian [Dixon] told me. Not going with what Ian told me.”
Rapoport has not issued a statement in regards to Jackson’s comments. The player is still listed as questionable for the next game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and has talked about the situation.
Lamar Jackson talks about potential return
Jackson has been participating in limited practice sessions. While he is still listed as questionable, the quarterback is doing his best to recover. He talked about his injury situation in the press conference, and revealed that he does not know when he would return. He said, “I can’t call it right now. I still [have] got a grace period, so we’ll see, but hopefully. I feel like I’m heading in the right direction right now.”
He added, “I don’t have a number, but I don’t feel like I have to be 100. If I can just be out there and tolerate the pain in my ankle, [then] that’s it. If I can just go out there and feel the pain a little bit, I can play. But [if] I’m restricted and I can’t do what I do, [then] I’m not helping [anybody]. If I can just go out there and just be a statue and be hit, that’s not helping my team at all. That’s just me. I feel like I’m being selfish, because it’s about me at that point, for me to go out there and be hurt.”
Lamar Jackson will be working towards his recovery, and hope that he can play as soon as possible.
