Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is weighing in on Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ medical situation after Hurts was sidelined for the rest of the season with blood clots in his lungs.
Rodgers said that he’s not close with Hurts, but he’s not surprised at how the situation has gone down.

“We’re in the quarterback fraternity, so you don’t want to see anything like that happen to anybody. Especially a guy who’s still in football,” Rodgers said. “I don’t know all the details about what’s going on. All I’ve seen is what’s been printed. Allen Sills, he’s the guy in charge of all things medical at the NFL office, and he and I haven’t always seen eye-to-eye about things. So, I can’t say I’m real surprised.”
Rodgers and the league butted heads over the COVID-19 vaccine in 2021 when Rodgers tried to convince the league to accept homeopathic treatments as an alternative to getting the vaccine.

The handling of Hurts’ issue has been criticized by many in the football world. Hurts was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot before Philadelphia’s game in London but was cleared to play. After flying back to the United States, he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, and blood clots were found in his lungs. Hurts is sidelined for the rest of the season as he goes on blood thinners.
The NFL has said it won’t punish the Eagles for their handling of Hurts’ blood clots, but the NFL Players’ Association has since called for an investigation into his medical care.
