The prime minister and his treasurer have been out and about trying to ease worries about the government’s performance. Meanwhile, Small Business Minister Anne Aly says she has received 19 death threats over the last week.
DON’T PANIC, YET
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Treasurer Jim Chalmers have been out trying to calm Labor nerves as the government continues to feel the heat from the faltering economy and voter frustration at the cost of living.
The Nine papers reckon Chalmers’s admission yesterday of a painful 12 months ahead means Albanese will wait until early 2028 to go to the polls, rather than the back half of next year as some have apparently speculated (which, I don’t know, was anyone really thinking there would be an early election? In this economy?).
