At last, the Carolina Hurricanes are playing their final game of the Western Conference road trip – closing things out in a game against the St. Louis Blues.
The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT.
In the Hurricanes’ last game, they ultimately came up with a loss – but not without a point as they fell to the Edmonton Oilers in the shootout. It was an impressive showing from the Hurricanes – missing key players in Jordan Staal, Taylor Hall, and Mark Jankowski – managing to make it to a shootout with the team that leads the league in points percentage.
Seth Jarvis’ return also proved to bring some extra energy to the team, scoring an ever stylish goal in his season debut! You can read all about the game, see the clips, and learn of the controversy of the night right here!
As for the Blues, they have been doing decently despite not being in a wild card position as of the time of writing. In their ten games played this season, they are 5-4-1, with their latest game being a massive 6-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Hilariously, it seems there were already some Hurricanes fans in the arena, trolling the Golden Knights, holding up a sign saying, ‘we’re here to see Vegas lose again’. They certainly got their wish with that…
In the Crease
Seeing as Brandon Bussi was the starting goalie in the Hurricanes’ last game, it is expected that Pyotr Kochetkov will take the crease against the Blues.
This season, Bussi’s goals against average is 1.98, with a save percentage of .899.
Meanwhile, the Blues have heavily leaned on their young gun goalie Joel Hofer for the majority of this season, only playing Jordan Binnington about once a week. With all of that being said, Binnington is due a game, and considering that it is a cross-conference matchup, it’d be a likely time as any to utilize him – which I believe they may do.
This season, Binnington’s goals against average is 4.68, with a save percentage of .831.
