Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas — The state of Tamaulipas is preparing to host the National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) from November 26 to 29, an event expected to generate an economic impact of approximately 60 million pesos and draw thousands of domestic visitors.
Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, the Secretary of Tourism for Tamaulipas, announced that the event will bring together representatives from all 177 "Pueblos Mágicos" across Mexico. The state anticipates an influx of approximately 6,000 out-of-state visitors, with a daily attendance of nearly 15,000 people at the Expo Tampico, the primary venue for the activities.
“We are very proud that they trusted Tamaulipas to host such a large event,” Hernández Rodríguez stated, noting that the gathering represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the regional tourism industry and boost the local economy.
In addition to the main event in Tampico, the program includes activities in Tula, including the National Encounter of "Cuadrillas" (traditional groups), celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pueblos Mágicos program.
The Secretary also highlighted the state's ongoing efforts to promote sports and tourism across various municipalities. As an example, he pointed to the "Ruta Tamaulipas" — a route starting in Ciudad Victoria, passing through El Mante, and concluding in the Golden Dunes of Ciudad Madero, which attracts competitors from Monterrey, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, and Guadalajara.
Regarding events in the southern region, Hernández Rodríguez indicated that the state is already analyzing the next edition of tourism encounters in Playa Miramar, with the possibility of adjusting dates to ensure favorable weather conditions. "The idea is to find a window; I believe it should be in the middle of the year,&123; he commented.
To ensure a high-quality experience for visitors, the Tourism Department continues to provide training for service providers and tourism operators. "What we are doing is training the entire value chain to professionalize all tourism operators,&123; Hernández Rodríguez explained.
In terms of highway assistance, the "Ángeles Verdes" corporation currently has 18 units stationed in Tamaulipas, each staffed by two agents to provide guidance, road assistance, and support to travelers. The Secretary added that there is an intention to renew the collaboration agreement during the National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos, with the possibility of increasing the operational capacity of the group.
The Secretary concluded that these actions are part of a broader strategy to strengthen tourism services, facilitate road travel, and leverage national events to attract visitors and generate economic benefits for the state.
