While opinions vary on sex work, some can find it to be liberating and exactly what they are looking for. Some former celebrities have done so, even mentioning they felt their adult career was safer than their previous.
For Seto Miyoko, much of her life was spent serving others, beginning with her marriage at 24. After having two children, Set divorced her first husband at 34, and became a single mother.
Her subsequent remarriage was to a man with his own child, and an ailing mother she took care of.
This second marriage lacked intimacy, and Seto went over 20 years without sex. At 70, Seto was left dependent on her daughter and facing rejections from more typical jobs due to her age, she recalled an offer from an adult video company.
Her daughter encouraged her to go for it, accompanying her to an agency, where she signed a contract for work.
Since then, she had appeared in 17 different films, and also recently began working at a brothel, which her daughter also encouraged. Seto’s work has allowed her to take some of her independence back, and she says she now views sex as a joyful experience.
