Veteran guard Collin Sexton was cleared to make his Los Angeles Lakers debut on Friday against the LA Clippers as he was no longer listed on the team’s injury report. Sexton had been sidelined for all preseason and had only recently begun fully participating in practice amid a calf injury.
Collin Sexton was initially listed as questionable on the Lakers’ injury report for their season opener against the Golden State Warriors, but was eventually ruled out. Without the nine-year veteran in the lineup, Lakers head coach JJ Redick opted to bring Quentin Grimes off the bench. That was a move that was first done during the final preseason game in an effort to provide the second unit with an experienced ball-handler and cut down on turnovers.
As far as the rest of the Lakers’ injury report is concerned, forward Jake LaRavia is listed as questionable due to a right ankle sprain he sustained against the Warriors. The moment happened about midway through the fourth quarter when he came off a screen, attacked the basket and fell to the ground before getting to the rim. He stayed down for a while under the Lakers’ basket before being helped up. He was able to walk off to the locker room under his own power.

To that point, LaRavia had seemingly regained his form and confidence from last season. He ended the game with 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal while shooting 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-3 from the 3-point line in 18 minutes.
Sexton, on the other hand, comes in after splitting last season between the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls. He was one of the Lakers’ initial free agent signings during their early splurge that included Grimes, Walker Kessler and Sandro Mamukelashvili.
The No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, he appeared in a total of 68 games, including 22 starts, at a little over 23 minutes per game. He averaged 15.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals with splits of 48.5 percent shooting from the field, 40.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 85.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
