Within the hardcore world, there's a maxim that the best moshers also make the best lead vocalists, that any band looking for a leader should simply recruit their scene's hardest limb-flailer who doesn't already have a band. This line of thinking wouldn't work in most genres of music, but it carries a certain weight in hardcore. For a classic textbook example, please consult the footage of Scottish stompers Demonstration Of Power playing Sound And Fury two years ago, where frontman Shaun Alexander repeatedly transformed himself into a human whirlwind.
For the past few years, Glasgow has had a booming heavy hardcore scene, as documented in the catalog of the great Northern Unrest label. Demonstration Of Power have been at the center of that scene, and their elemental physical force, presumably best experienced in person, still comes through clearly on record. After a demo, a two-song single, and a few splits, DOP are finally prepared to unleash their full-length debut upon the unsuspecting masses. It's called In The Name Of..., and the first two singles will splinter your skull.
Earlier versions of Demonstration Of Power's tracks "Spirit Inherited" and "In The Name Of.." appeared on a promo minidisc earlier this year. The album comes out in just a couple of weeks, and DOP have now shared the commanding, hard-hitting album versions. Check them out below.
