MSRP
- Fashion-forward design, comfortable ride, quiet cabin.
- Isn't as sporty as it looks, turbo four could use more power, less interior space than QX60.
- The QX65 is a looker with styling inspired by iconic Infiniti FX, but its performance doesn't live up to the same standard.

Overview
Chopping the top of its mid-size QX60 crossover gives Infiniti a stylish fastback to rival other coupe-like luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q8 and the Genesis GV80 Coupe. The two-row QX65 is powered by the same 268-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's under the hood of the three-row QX60.
The interior is also more or less a carbon copy of the QX60's, save for the fact that it's only two rows rather than its sister ship's three. That means passenger space is similar—at least in the first two rows—with a decent-sized cargo area behind the back seat. Luxury and convenience features are plentiful, and Infiniti offers the QX65 in its top Autograph trim, which comes fully loaded with posh interior materials such as quilted leather upholstery and wood trim.
Expert Tip: Although it might be a little less stylish, the Nissan Murano is the Infiniti QX65's similarly sized but less expensive cousin, and it would be worth considering if you’re looking for a deal.

What's New for 2027?
The QX65 is a new nameplate for Infiniti this year, but it's not the first time the brand has offered a mid-size two-row SUV with a swoopy roofline. The boldly styled FX SUV helped contribute to the brand's growth in the early 2000s and earned some praise from us, too.
What's Your Car Worth?
Car and Driver calculates your car's value in three free and easy steps - using the same Black Book® data dealers use to appraise vehicles.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
- Engine: 268-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Drivetrain: all-wheel drive
All QX65s come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 268 horsepower. All-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission are standard. In the QX65, this engine feels underpowered, and we wish Infiniti had dropped in a V-6 engine instead.
While Infiniti is pitching the QX65 as a sporty alternative to the larger QX60, we didn't find it to be particularly fun to drive. If you are hoping for something comfortable and quiet, though, the QX65 delivers exactly that.
0–60-MPH Times
- C/D 60-mph Test: 7.3 seconds
In Comparison: At our test track, the QX65 needed 7.3 seconds to hit 60 mph. That puts it well behind the Genesis GV80 2.5T (6.1 seconds) and neck-and-neck with the nonhybrid Lincoln Nautilus (7.3 seconds).
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
- EPA City Rating: 20 mpg
- EPA Highway Rating: 26 mpg
The EPA estimates the QX65 will deliver 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, the QX65 managed 28 mpg—2 mpg more than expected. For more information about the QX65's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Towing and Payload Capacity
- Max Towing: 6000 pounds
In Comparison: The QX65's maximum capacity equals that of the Genesis GV80 but is less than what the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE350 will tow.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: The QX65 shares its interior design with the QX60 SUV, and that's not a bad thing. The cabin is stylish and comfortable with plentiful standard features. Fake leather upholstery is standard, but the top-spec Autograph trim gets soft, semi-aniline cowhide with a rich-looking quilted pattern on the seats. Power-adjustable heated front seats are standard in the first row and can be equipped with ventilation and massage. Active noise cancellation, automatic climate control, and memory settings for the driver are also included on all models.
Second Row: Back seat space is plenty roomy for two adults. The QX65's automatic climate control system features a third zone for the rear seat passengers, and a display on the back of the center console allows for adjustments to the temperature. Heated outboard rear seats are available, but only on the most expensive Autograph trim.
Cargo Capacity: Open the QX65's power liftgate, and you will find a generously sized cargo bay. Infiniti says there's 36 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats and a total of 68 when the rear seats are stowed. That's more than what you'll find in rivals such as the Audi Q8 and the Genesis GV80 Coupe, but less than what you get with the three-row QX60. When we get a chance, we'll stuff the QX65 full of carry-on suitcases and update this story with our test results.
Infotainment and Connectivity
- Infotainment: 12.3-inch touchscreen
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Audio System: 11-speaker stereo (standard), 16-speaker Klipsch stereo (optional), 20-speaker Klipsch stereo (optional)
A 12.3-inch infotainment screen is standard, and although it is a touchscreen, there's also a rotary knob controller located on the center console. Bluetooth phone connectivity is standard, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's a separate 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and if you want it, you can order a 10.8-inch head-up display as well.
An 11-speaker stereo is the base setup, but the mid-level Sport trim comes with a 16-speaker stereo tuned by Klipsch. The top-spec Autograph model gets a 20-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere stereo.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
A host of standard safety features is on offer, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. If you want ProPilot Assist 2.1, Infiniti's adaptive cruise control system with a hands-free driving mode, that's only available as an option on the Autograph trim.
- Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control
- Optional Safety Features: 360-degree exterior camera system, adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode
For information about the QX65's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
All Infiniti models offer longer powertrain coverage than most rivals at six years or 70,000 miles, and the brand offers complimentary scheduled maintenance as BMW does for the X5 and Volvo for the XC90.
- Limited Warranty: four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain Warranty: six years or 70,000 miles
- Complimentary Maintenance: three years or 30,000 miles
C/D Test Results and Specs
Each year, we put hundreds of vehicles through our rigorous instrumented testing regimen. If the data in the chart below is for a different model year, that's because this vehicle hasn't changed from when we last tested it, and the test results remain accurate.
