The wife of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Amina Titi-Abubakar, has charged women to mobilise their folks and to actively participate in the 2027 general elections.
Titi-Abubakar, whose husband is also the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the election, made the call at the inauguration of the Diamond Ladies in Politics; a women group in the ADC, in Abuja on Friday.
She said, “When women get a voice in politics, policies change. Politics is not just elections and party offices. Politics is how resources are shared. Who gets education? Who gets healthcare, jobs, security? If you are not on the table, you have to leave for the night.
“Women are more than 50% in Nigeria. Over 47% of these totals are registered as voters. That is the women. You can see the power of women. That figure was given in 2023. Ironically, women in the National Assembly are less than five per cent. No woman governor in the 2023 elections.
She continued, “We have a vote, but not yet the votes. Why women must be in politics; we are the best managers. Yes, in our homes, in our communities, and in Nigeria as a whole. We prioritise people. We prioritise education for our children, health, and family. We reduce corruption.”
