While completed works worth ₹40.40 crore were inaugurated, foundation stones were laid for 134 new projects estimated to cost ₹143.38 crore at a function organised at Dasanur village in Nanjangud taluk.
The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Residential School for Girls, constructed at a cost of ₹22.50 crore at Dasanur, was among the projects inaugurated on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddaramaiah said development works worth around ₹5,034 crore have been undertaken in Varuna since the constituency was created in 2008. Out of the four elections held since its creation, the constituency has been represented by Mr. Siddaramaiah three times by winning in the Assembly elections held in 2008, 2013, and 2023, while his son Yathindra Siddaramaiah won the election in 2018.
Mr. Siddaramaiah assured the people that he would continue to work for the constituency.
“I will remain an MLA for another one-and-a-half years, until 2028. During this period, I will continue working for the people of Varuna and remain with them,” he said.
Appealing to the people to continue extending their affection, support, and blessings to him, Mr. Siddaramaiah also sought their continued support for his son and Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who is now a Member of the Legislative Council.
Mr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who is also Minister In-charge of Mysuru district, said the projects launched on Monday had been designed to address the needs of the constituency’s residents and reflected the government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Varuna.

The government was committed to comprehensive development in sectors including roads, education, housing, irrigation, drinking water, and basic infrastructure, he said.
Vehicles were also distributed to beneficiaries of the Swavalambi Sarathi scheme during the programme.
Mr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah said the Congress government remained committed to public welfare and was continuing its development programmes despite challenges posed by rising prices.
MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan, Legislative Council members D. Thimmaiah and K. Shivakumar, Mysuru District Rural Congress Committee president Beerihundi Basavanna, and senior officials attended the programme.
