The carrier presented its winter schedule this week, which will come into effect on December 13, 2026.
For the first time since 2019, a direct connection to Belgrade is planned for 2027, with two trains per day in each direction and a journey time of around 6 hours 30 minutes, ÖBB stated on its website.
One-way tickets are expected to start at 43.90 euro, according to the official Instagram page of Zeit im Bild, the flagship television news program of Austria’s public broadcaster.
According to ÖBB, the exact launch date remains subject to the necessary authorization for the route in Hungary.
This means that services between Vienna and Belgrade will not necessarily launch on December 13 when the winter timetable takes effect.
Hungary’s Minister of Transport and Investment David Vitezy recently announced that testing on the high-speed rail section from Budapest to the Serbian border has been completed, suggesting that international trains to Belgrade could begin operating in the second half of December.
