The Fanatics frustrations have made their way to Golden State Valkyries fans.
While the WNBA shop proudly advertises that a fan can shop for Valkyries or Dream gear during this historic WNBA Finals series between Golden State and Atlanta, those who want to get a jersey representing their Bay Area team almost certainly won't get their jersey before the end of the series. All of the adult-sized jerseys on the site operated by Fanatics, the leading merchandise partner of every major sports league (including the WNBA) in the country, have an estimated arrival date to Bay Area ZIP codes of no earlier than Oct. 30.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there are 21 Valkyries basketball jerseys available for sale, with only seven available in adult sizes. Five have an estimated arrival date of Nov. 12, which would be, at best, just under two weeks after a Game 7 decider scheduled for Oct. 31. At worst, it could mean a jersey would arrive 17 days after the end of this series if it was to end in five games. The other two adult-size jerseys have an estimated arrival date of Oct. 30 and would only arrive with one game to spare in the series at best. However, those jerseys are the Fanatics-manufactured replicas, which don't have the same level of quality as the other five that are manufactured by Nike and Jordan.
There is some better news for those who want to get children-sized jerseys, as six of the 14 youth-size jerseys available have an estimated arrival date of Oct. 23, just before Game 4 is scheduled to happen. Still, of the remaining eight, six also have an estimated arrival of Oct. 30, one (a Fanatics-made Juste Jocyte jersey) has an estimated arrival of Nov. 5, and a custom all-star jersey has an estimated arrival of Nov. 12.
This would be frustrating, but understandable, if the circumstances with other WNBA jerseys were consistent, which isn't quite the case. A jersey for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, whose team was eliminated in the first round on Oct. 1, has an estimated arrival date of Oct. 28, before Game 6 is scheduled to take place and before any adult Valkyries jerseys would arrive.
Where there is consistency is the issues that sports fans in the Bay Area have had to put up with regarding Fanatics. In 2024, the only Super Bowl jerseys available were the 49ers' home red ones. The only problem was that the Niners were wearing white that Super Bowl, and the company later explained that it was because it simply ran out of white jerseys throughout the season. Earlier this season, Giants fans were left to deal with a lack of inventory for their baseball jerseys. This issue came two months after Fanatics issued an apology to Seahawks and Patriots fans for, once again, failing to have enough Super Bowl jerseys for their championship matchup.
