The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 general election, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has criticised the fresh N100 billion loan approved by the Oyo State House of Assembly for Governor Seyi Makinde.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, described the approval as another attempt to bankrupt the state.
He made the remarks in a statement signed by the Director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
DAILY POST gathered that members of the Oyo State House of Assembly had earlier on Wednesday approved a fresh N100 billion loan for the governor.
Our correspondent learnt that this was not the first time such a loan had been approved.
Reacting, Alli condemned the approval, describing it as an attempt to bankrupt the state.
He also criticised the House of Assembly for approving the loan, insisting that there was no justification for it.
"The governor’s determination to plunge Oyo State further into debt, even as his administration approaches its terminal date, raises serious questions about his intentions and the financial burden he is preparing to leave behind for the incoming government."
