ELSIPOGTOG FIRST NATION – Residents of a First Nation in eastern New Brunswick have been urged to lock their doors after a report of a person with a weapon.
RCMP say a search was underway early Tuesday for a person who used a firearm at Elsipogtog First Nation, roughly 60 kilometres north of Moncton.
An emergency alert urged people in the area to shelter in place.
RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette says there is no description of the suspect and asks those not from the First Nation to stay away.
He also urges anyone who has seen suspicious activity to call police immediately.
On its website, Elsipogtog First Nation says it is one of New Brunswick’s largest First Nations reserves.
