Telangana Government has decided to verify the PAN and Aadhaar details of all the service and family pensioners and update them in theIntegrated Financial Management and Information System (IFMIS) pension module.
Agenda
Officials concerned have been instructed to obtain copies of PAN and Aadhaar cards of the pensioners/family pensioners concerned wherever necessary for verification, to ensure that the particulars are correctly recorded in the pension module. The exercise is essential for ensuring proper identification of service pensioners and family pensioners, cross verification of pensioner records with available information relating to deceased pensioners and effective administration of pension related services.
“It is also intended to prevent irregular drawl of pension and thereby, to safeguard the government exchequer against potential financial loss,” a memo circulated by the Treasuries and Accounts department said.
The exercise assumes significance in the light of mounting protests held recently over the inordinate delays in release of retirement benefits to pensioners who attained the age of superannuation. The retired personnel, irrespective of their age, staged protest demonstrations in front of the Secretariat, seat of State administration, in support of their demands.
Over 19,000 employees to retire in two years
With 9,719 employees retiring from service by 2026 end and another 9,443 set to demit office next year, the departments were instructed to meticulously carry out the verification with reference to relevant records and supporting documents. Wherever Aadhaar and PAN details are not available in the records, they should be obtained from the pensioners concerned or family pensioners as applicable.
Officers were directed to rectify the mistakes if any in the details of the employees and give top priority to the exercise. A deadline of December 31 was set for the departments for completing the process.
