Hyundai Motor's "The All-New Tucson" topped 15,000 orders within a single day of opening sales, setting a record for the nameplate.
Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) said on the 22nd that the Tucson, its flagship compact sport utility vehicle that returned as a fifth-generation full-model change after six years, drew a total of 15,045 orders on the 21st, the first day of order-taking. The figure surpasses the 10,842 orders logged on the first day for the fourth-generation Tucson, which launched in September 2020.
By trim, the top-tier Inspiration accounted for the largest share at 44%. The entry-level H-Pick followed at 33%, the mid-tier Exclusive at 22%, and the XRT trim — based on the Exclusive with exclusive styling — at 1%.
The sharp rise in Inspiration's share, from 29% previously to 44%, reflects demand from buyers who prioritize advanced features and differentiated product appeal even in the compact SUV segment. The Inspiration trim comes standard with the latest features, including Pleos Connect built around a 17-inch display, Highway Driving Assist 2 and dual wireless smartphone charging.
Hyundai Motor also made a wide range of popular safety and convenience features standard on the H-Pick, including Pleos Connect and over-the-air software updates, along with pedal misapplication safety assist, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2 and a surround view monitor.
By powertrain, the hybrid's share of orders rose to 55% from 48% for the previous Tucson, overtaking the gasoline model. The hybrid is equipped with Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation hybrid system, delivering a maximum system output of 245 PS, 10 horsepower higher than before, and combined fuel economy of 17.4 kilometers per liter, an improvement of 1.2 kilometers per liter.
"The All-New Tucson is an attractive model with strong product appeal from the base trim up, built on a bold design and spacious interior," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will continue to put customers first and deliver greater value."
