Mokokchung, Oct 11: Two Senso organisations in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district have opposed an ultimatum issued by the Mangkolemba civil society organisation (CSO) demanding the resignation of state minister Temjen Imna Along over issues related to the construction of a multipurpose hall at Longtho.
The Tzürangkong Senso Senden and Japukong Senso Senden, in separate statements, termed the October 3 ultimatum inappropriate and uncalled for, arguing that concerns over public infrastructure should be resolved through dialogue rather than confrontational demands.
The Tzürangkong Senso Senden said demanding the minister’s resignation was not an appropriate way to address issues surrounding the project. It called for constructive discussions and practical suggestions, instead of actions that could undermine an elected representative.
The organisation also expressed confidence in Along’s leadership, stating that voters of the 30 Alongtaki Assembly Constituency had elected him for consecutive terms based on their faith in his ability to deliver development and prosperity.
It questioned the authority of individuals outside the constituency to demand the minister’s resignation, alleging that such moves could be driven by political considerations and personal interests.
The Japukong Senso Senden, following a meeting on October 7, also condemned the ultimatum, stating that such demands lacked a lawful basis and did not serve the broader public interest.
The organisation said arbitrary demands would not resolve the concerns surrounding the project or provide lasting solutions. It urged all stakeholders to engage in discussions with an open mind and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the community.
Both organisations stressed that cooperation, collective responsibility and mutual understanding were essential to resolving the issue. They appealed to all concerned to rise above political differences and personal interests and pursue a peaceful and responsible approach.
