(ANSA) - QUITO, 14 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Ecuador, Giovanni Davoli, attended the launch event for the comprehensive digitization project of the Ecuadorian healthcare system, which was awarded to the Italian company Dedalus. In September, the contract (worth $117 million) was finalized between Dedalus and the Ecuadorian telecommunications company (CNT), which was tasked by the Ministry of Health with implementing the project, following negotiations with the government in Quito facilitated by the Italian Embassy. According to a press release, the Italian company has already begun work with a seven-year timeline; a process at the end of which “Ecuador will be at the forefront of the continent and a model for the rest of South America in the comprehensive digitization of the healthcare system,” commented Ronald Spina, CNT’s general director. Vincenzo Giannattasio, executive vice president, attended the event on behalf of Dedalus, as did Ecuador’s Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Aveiga Parra. The company, founded in Florence in 1982, specializes in healthcare IT solutions and ranks among the top in international industry rankings. Dedalus currently operates in 38 countries, providing services to over half a billion people.
