EPS’ Terra Clove can carry ammonia as cargo and use it as propulsion fuel.
Eastern Pacific Shipping’s (EPS) first ammonia dual-fuelled vessel Terra Clove has been christened at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Ulsan, South Korea, according to a joint statement with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The 93,000-cubic-metre very large ammonia carrier is the first commercial newbuild of its kind registered under the Singapore Registry of Ships.
The vessel is designed to carry ammonia as cargo and use it as propulsion fuel. It is equipped with specialised ammonia fuel handling, containment, and safety systems.
Terra Clove is the first of two ammonia dual-fuelled vessels HD HHI is building for EPS. It uses Everllence’s first commercial ammonia dual-fuelled two-stroke marine engine, which completed factory acceptance testing in April.
The vessel is expected to be delivered in November following sea trials.
MPA worked with EPS, HD HHI, and the American Bureau of Shipping on the vessel’s technical and regulatory compliance, including design reviews, hazard assessments, and guidance on ammonia safety, emissions management, and crew preparedness.
“Beyond developing the technology, our priority is ensuring its safe and practical operation,” said Cyril Ducau, CEO of EPS.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
