KEMAMAN: A 23-year-old woman has been remanded for three days to assist investigations into an alleged criminal breach of trust involving RM250,000 at a gold shop here in February.
Magistrate Marsha Abdul Malik issued the remand order today to allow police to investigate the case under Section 408 of the Penal Code.
Kemaman district police chief Superintendent Mohd Razi Rosli said the suspect, who worked at the gold shop, was arrested at about 9.30pm yesterday.
He said the arrest followed a police report lodged by the shop owner at 6.14pm on Sept 30.
"The 32-year-old shop owner alleged that the suspect had committed criminal breach of trust by taking gold and cash for personal use, resulting in losses of RM250,000," he said.
Mohd Razi said the investigation was at an early stage, and the investigation papers would be referred to the state prosecution office for further action.
