POCHEON — Kim Da-hyun, the trot singer known as a child prodigy of the genre, will serve as the public face of Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The city said on the 23rd that it had newly appointed Kim, who combines wide public recognition with an approachable image, as its official promotional ambassador and had begun campaigning in earnest to publicize its flagship brands, festivals and tourist attractions.
Kim finished as runner-up on MBN's "Voice Trot" in 2020, placed third on TV Chosun's "Miss Trot 2" in 2021 and took first place on MBN's "Korea-Japan Top Singer Contest" in 2024, establishing herself as a popular singer with commanding vocal ability and a solid fan base.
Immediately after the appointment ceremony, Kim began her first activity as ambassador by filming a dance challenge video with Pouri, the city's official mascot, set to "Good Shot," her new single released in June this year. The aim is to build familiarity with the local brand through upbeat energy that appeals across generations. The videos will be released in sequence through Pocheon's official social media channels.
The city plans to draw on Kim's broad popular appeal to convey Pocheon's varied attractions — including local festivals, major tourist sites and brand policies — effectively to audiences nationwide.
"It is meaningful for us to have Kim Da-hyun, who is widely loved for her outstanding talent and positive energy, as our promotional ambassador," a Pocheon city official said. "We will carry out a range of promotional activities going forward to raise Pocheon's profile."
