Shedeur Sanders has made a significant change.
The Browns quarterback has hired an agent for the first time in his professional career, bringing on Adie von Gontard, the CEO of Young Money APAA Sports, to represent him, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The deal means YMAPAA now represents both Sanders and Travis Hunter, former Colorado teammates.
Sanders went through draft night and the early part of his NFL career representing himself.
Similarly, Houston wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was also self-represented until recently, making the move shortly before being traded from the Cardinals to the Texans.
Harrison’s hiring of Todd France and Tory Dandy of Athletes First reportedly helped move along his trade.
While there’s no indication the Browns are looking to trade him at the moment, Sanders’ beginnings in Cleveland have been rocky.
He is backing up Deshaun Watson this season, with the Browns sitting at 3-2.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano wrote that he expects Watson to continue to start barring any major injuries, a drop-off in play or the Browns falling completely out of playoff contention.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Browns “would probably welcome a deal at the right price” for one of their backup quarterbacks.
Sanders is the current backup, and Dillon Gabriel is on injured reserve with a back injury suffered during the preseason.
The Browns drafted Sanders on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft with the 144th overall pick. Sanders then signed a four-year, $4.647 million rookie deal that included a $400,000-plus signing bonus.
With Watson out for the 2025 season with a torn Achilles, Sanders split time with Gabriel and veteran Joe Flacco.
After Flacco was traded to the Bengals and Gabriel suffered a concussion, Sanders appeared in eight games in 2025, throwing for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and ten interceptions.
He rushed for another touchdown and 169 yards on 21 attempts.
