In addition to the basic pay, successful candidates will receive a house allowance of KSh 10,000 and a commuter allowance of KSh 4,000, bringing the total gross monthly compensation to between KSh 47,900 and KSh 58,530 before statutory deductions.
The positions are permanent and pensionable, meaning holders will be absorbed into the county establishment with access to retirement benefits.
Who qualifies and what does the role involve?
Applicants must hold a Diploma in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
Candidates are also required to have served in the grade of Revenue Assistant III or a comparable position for a minimum of three years, making prior revenue experience a firm requirement rather than an added advantage.
The county additionally expects proficiency in computer applications and revenue management systems, alongside a demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain integrity in handling public funds.
In practice, the Revenue Assistant II will be responsible for collecting revenue, issuing receipts through the county's approved systems, serving invoices and notices on revenue payers, and capturing payer data.
The role places these officers at the frontline of Nairobi County's revenue mobilisation efforts, interacting directly with traders, property owners, and other contributors to the county's own-source revenue base.
How to apply
All applicants must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, on leadership and integrity.
Clearance certificates will be required from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Higher Education Loans Board, and a Credit Reference Bureau.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Nairobi City County online recruitment portal.
The county will not accept manual or physical submissions.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and the county has stated that those who do not receive a response should consider their application unsuccessful.
Beyond the Revenue Assistant II posts, other vacancies in the recruitment drive include roles such as assistant director for revenue mobilisation, senior revenue officer, rates officer, and director of revenue reporting, among others.
The exercise reflects the county's push to strengthen its internal revenue collection capacity and reduce dependence on national government transfers.
Nairobi City County described itself as an equal opportunity employer and encouraged applications from qualified women and persons living with disabilities.
