A bomb threat email allegedly targeting veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow in Mumbai was reported to the Mumbai Police on Friday, prompting an investigation into the matter.
According to reports, the threatening email was received by a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area of Mumbai. The email reportedly mentioned the actor’s residence, although it is yet to be established whether the threat specifically referred to his Jalsa or Prateeksha bungalow.
Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation into the email. Further details regarding the sender and the nature of the alleged threat are awaited.
The incident comes after a separate bomb threat email was received at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) office. Following the alert, security personnel conducted checks at the civic body’s premises; no suspicious objects or materials were found during the inspection.
In another similar incident, the Mumbai Press Club received a threatening email on March 20, claiming that explosives containing poisonous gas had been planted inside the building and would detonate at 1 pm.
Further, the sender allegedly identified themselves as Neeraja Ajmal Khan and claimed that 42 devices containing poisonous gas had been placed inside the Press Club premises. The email also called for the building to be evacuated, claiming that the alleged devices were intended to cause property damage.
The message reportedly contained political allegations involving the DMK and claims of being denied media coverage in Tamil Nadu. However, the claims made in the email were not independently verified.
Further details about the credibility of the threat are awaited.
