PITTSBURGH — Rookie offensive tackle Max Iheanachor is dealing with an injury to his right hand as the Pittsburgh Steelers got their Week 7 practices started at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Iheanachor had a cast over his right thumb at practice on Wednesday. He apparently suffered the injury in the team’s 26-19 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
The team’s first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Iheanachor was one of six Pittsburgh offensive players to play in all 79 snaps on Sunday.
Iheanachor was dressed for practice and was working with the normal practice group, not other injured players. The team will release a full injury report later on Wednesday.
If Iheanachor would be unable to dress as the Steelers travel to Paris to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Dylan Cook would likely replace Iheanachor at right tackle. Cook started the first two games of the season before Iheanachor and Brock Hoffman replaced Cook and Spencer Anderson on the right side of the offensive line.
In six games, making four starts, Iheanachor has played in 276 snaps for the Steelers this season, and has allowed three sacks and 12 total quarterback pressures, per Pro Football Focus.
The Steelers will have two practices this week at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex before traveling to Paris on Thursday evening. They’ll practice at Stade de France on Friday ahead of the 9:30 a.m. ET Sunday kickoff.
