Seoul's Gangseo-gu District is offering free rabies vaccinations for 2,500 dogs and cats aged three months or older through the 31st of this month, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The vaccinations will be administered at 45 designated animal hospitals in the district, with the vaccine provided at no cost.
Pet owners pay only a 10,000 won ($7) treatment fee. Dogs are eligible only if they have completed animal registration.
Owners whose pets do not have an implanted microchip must bring an external tag, an identification plate or an animal registration certificate.
Rabies is a fatal disease that can infect both humans and animals, making regular vaccination important.
