Suspended Namibia Football Association (NFA) Director of Finance and Procurement Mino Gariseb confirmed he is aware of his suspension but declined to comment on the allegations against him until he and his lawyers formally receive the charges.
The NFA suspended Gariseb with immediate effect, pending an investigation into alleged financial irregularities, mismanagement and administrative misconduct.
In a letter dated 9 October, acting General Secretary Mabos Vries informed Gariseb of the decision, stating that it followed an Executive Council resolution passed on 12 February.
During the suspension, Gariseb has been instructed not to perform any official or unofficial duties or represent the association in any capacity. He must also hand over all NFA documents, records, equipment and other property in his possession.
The letter further directs Gariseb to remain available to cooperate with any inquiries or investigations and not to leave the Windhoek district without the acting GS’s approval.
The NFA stated that the suspension should not be regarded as a finding of guilt and that it would communicate the investigation’s outcome to Gariseb upon its conclusion.
Gariseb’s response to the allegations is expected once he and his legal representatives have formally received the charges.
