A woman from Zimbabwe has opened up about her unconventional marriage to two men, revealing how the three-person household manages daily life, sleeping arrangements and future plans for children.

In a documentary-style video published by the Hasta World YouTube channel, the woman explains that she was the one who approached both men and proposed to each of them.

She says she met her first husband while he was working in the fields, was struck by his work ethic, and told him directly that she wanted to marry him.

Woman marries second husband after being married for four years

He was initially reluctant, she recalls, because courtship in their community is traditionally initiated by men.

After spending four years with her first husband, she sought out a second partner, explaining that her first husband was ageing and could no longer keep up with everything she needed.

She proposed to the second man using the same approach.

Woman with two husbands decides sleeping arrangement

Inside their home, each husband occupies a separate bedroom. The woman decides for herself which man she will sleep with on any given night.

Both husbands say they have accepted this arrangement without conflict, with the first husband describing his co-husband as being like a brother to him.

The two men have also divided responsibilities around the household.

Man loves his woman more after she adds second husband

One handles domestic chores such as cooking and cleaning, while the other takes on heavier physical labour outside the home.

"Even though there's now a second husband, I have actually learned to love my wife even more than before," the first husband says in the video.

"I'm just grateful we didn't divorce and that we simply fixed whatever was lacking in our home."

The second husband adds that he was told from the outset that the first husband was getting older and needed support.

"I don't think she used a love potion on me," he says. "I just love her and I truly believe it's true love."

The woman says the couple plans to have a child when they are ready, and that the baby will be considered to belong to both husbands.

She also mentions that should she feel the need to bring in a third husband before then, her current husbands would not object, provided she gives a satisfactory reason.

The video's narrator notes that members of the local community remain sceptical, with many believing the woman relied on dark magic to secure the agreement of two men.

"A woman having two husbands is still a completely new and strange concept to me," one community member says.
