The Indiana Fever’s playoff run came to an early end after the club was eliminated by the Las Vegas Aces 2-1 in the series. With the offseason quickly approaching, it appears the front office will undergo some major changes after Indiana decided to move on from Amber Cox as general manager.
Reports indicate that the Fever officially fired Cox, according to Annie Costabile of The Athletic. The franchise will now have to find a new GM after having a disappointing ending in this year’s playoffs.
“BREAKING: The Indiana Fever are firing general manager Amber Cox, multiple sources who have knowledge of the decision told The Athletic,” Costabile reported.

The Fever initially hired Cox in 2024 right before drafting Caitlin Clark. Indiana has been competitive in the regular season during her tenure, but the failures in the playoffs were seemingly too big to bear. For whatever reason, the roster just couldn’t get over the hump these past few years and make a championship run.
While the organization makes some changes, rumors already speculate that the Fever may have a complicated time building around their two stars, Caitlyn Clark and Aliyah Boston. The extra attention the franchise has gotten over the years could be something that sways free agents to sign elsewhere. But only time will tell if those rumors are true or not.
The Fever have some time to find a new general manager. Free agency doesn’t begin until about April 2027. So, fans should expect a thorough search before the club announces an official hire.
