The University of Chittagong (CU) will take legal action against anyone flying drones on campus without prior permission from the proctor's office, citing concerns over security, discipline and students' privacy.
The directive was issued in an urgent notice signed by university Proctor Professor Dr Md Kamrul Hossain today (25 October).
According to the notice, unidentified individuals have frequently been flying drones at different locations across the campus without permission. In some cases, drones have also been flown over areas around female students' residential halls, raising concerns over campus security and students' privacy.
The notice stated that no drone may be flown anywhere on campus without prior approval from the proctor's office. Anyone wishing to operate a drone must obtain permission in advance and comply with applicable government regulations.
The administration warned that violations of the directive would result in legal action against those responsible.
It also urged teachers, students, officials, employees and visitors to comply with the instruction and cooperate in maintaining security and discipline on campus.
